THE PROBLEM

Generic LLMs invent statutes from memory.

In 2023 a New York attorney was sanctioned for filing a brief with six fabricated case citations that ChatGPT had produced from parametric memory (Mata v. Avianca). The same failure mode applies to statute citations: a generic LLM "remembers" redactions that have already been amended, mixes paragraphs, and invents article numbers. In positive law, that is professional liability.

HOW NEXUS SOLVES IT

Literal in-force text loaded per analysis. Cited from the corpus, not from memory.

Before every analysis, Nexus loads the literal in-force text of the relevant articles from a consolidated, indexed statute corpus. Each citation produced by the system comes from that block, word by word, and is marked with the [L4-N] seal (Verified In-Force Statute). If a requested citation is not in the corpus, the system declares L4-N-NOT-AVAILABLE in the audit trail — it never fabricates a citation.

WHAT THE LAWYER ACTUALLY SEES

The finder, the evidence tray, the cross-reference graph.

FINDER

/normativa

Search any article in five seconds without leaving the platform. Filters by statute type, jurisdiction, and effective date (for historical queries: what did article X say in 2018?). Results show literal text, link to the official source, and a one-click "copy citation" button.

EVIDENCE TRAY · VERIFY-CITA

Click-to-verify against the source

Every citation in an analysis carries a "verify against source" button. Green: the text matches literally. Amber: the citation exists but the LLM paraphrased it. Red: the citation is wrong or not in the corpus. Warning: the article has been amended and requires partner review. The same verification is exposed headlessly as POST /api/v1/normativa/verify-cita for partner integrations. Beyond the per-citation verdict, the system self-flags citations it cannot verify and routes them to human review instead of presenting them as settled — for example, a ruling marked 'cited from memory — verify in CENDOJ'.

Statute ↔ case-law graph

For each statute article, see which judgments apply it. For each judgment, see which articles it cites. Schema deployed; execution in progress.

NORM HIERARCHY (STUFENBAU)

Each norm placed in its rank

Where a jurisdiction's corpus is deployed, the engine knows each norm's rank in the legal hierarchy — constitution, then organic law and statute, then regulation, and so on down the pyramid — and tracks the in-force status of the norm at that level. So an analysis can tell a constitutional provision from a ministerial order and weigh them accordingly, rather than treating every cited text as equal.

COVERAGE · WORKED EXAMPLE

A jurisdiction's statute corpus, illustrated with Spain's BOE across 17 autonomous communities.

Consolidated in-force version from the official BOE source. Promulgation dates from 1851 to today. The infrastructure for historical article-by-article versioning is in the schema; activation per Premium contract. The corpus carries current in-force law only — repealed or superseded norms are not included.

Temporal range: 1851 — 2026 (consolidated in-force version).

Types covered: Code · Organic Law · Ordinary Law · Royal Decree · Royal Decree-law · Royal Legislative Decree · Order · Resolution · Circular · Instruction · Agreements.

EU LAYER

European Union law integrated alongside the Spanish corpus.

Every analysis on Spanish law automatically loads the relevant EU legislation and CJEU case-law. The system flags when a national norm is affected by an EU directive of incomplete transposition or by CJEU jurisprudence.

Not an external link to EUR-Lex. Ingested, vectorised and queryable alongside the national corpus — through semantic search and through the citation verification module. Statute↔case-law cross-references are wired between the national and EU corpora.

OTHER JURISDICTIONS · PREMIUM ACTIVATION

63 jurisdictions ready. Your corpus, your priority.

The architecture is multi-jurisdictional. Every supported country ships with its localised legal module (official gazette, citation conventions, court hierarchy, statute structure, official language). Corpus ingestion runs per contract: when a Premium client signs, we ingest the requested jurisdiction's corpus and the integration begins receiving authoritative citations with L4-N seal. No queue behind another customer.
